Alliance Connect
Planning balanced menus for children in the early years 5 October 2023, 6:30PM - 7:30PM 1 session

We know that providing healthy, balanced meals and snacks is a vital part of quality early years provision, and that good menu planning is central to this – but how can settings ensure that they are meeting national recommended guidelines and feel confident in their ability to plan nutritious menus for the children in their care?

Join this free Connect session with expert nutritionists Gina Gorvett and Alison Preston of the Alliance Nutrition Support Programme and Alliance business manager Gary Croxon, where we will provide:

  • an overview of why nutrition in the early years is important
  • an introduction into the four main foods groups and the key nutrients provided by each food group
  • a summary of the current government guidelines for food provision in the early years
  • guidance on how to meet these guidelines and plan varied and nutritious meals for children in the early years

All providers who attend the event will receive additional supporting guidance documents on menu planning, kindly provided by the Infant and Toddler Forum, after the session.
