Alliance Connect
Early Years Foundation Stage Framework consultation event with the DfE 6 July 2023, 7:00PM - 8:00PM 1 session

The Department for Education has launched a new consultation on changes to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework.

While some of the proposed changes simply seek to clarify existing guidance, the consultation also includes a number of other more significant changes which form part of what the government describes as its efforts to “offer providers increased flexibility and alleviate known burdens”. This includes several proposed changes to qualification requirements for staff working in early years settings.

The government is now seeking your views on these proposals as part of the consultation, which will run until Wednesday 26 July 2023.   As part of this process, the Alliance is very pleased to be hosting an early years consultation event with Sarah Pinder, Early Years Foundation Stage policy team leader at the Department for Education, chaired by Alliance business manager Gary Croxon and Alliance director of quality improvement Michael Freeston.

During the event, Sarah will provide an overview of the EYFS consultation proposals. The Connect session will also give attendees the opportunity to:

  • get more information and ask questions about the consultation
  • reflect on the consultation proposals and how your setting might respond to the changes, if implemented
  • highlight any issues not currently included in the consultation
  • understand how to further engage in the consultation process

To ensure that the hour-long event is as focused as possible on the key areas that attendees wish to discuss, we encourage everyone attending to submit any questions they have in advance using this form by Friday 23 June – though there will still be opportunities to ask questions, and make comments, during the event itself.

This is an excellent opportunity to shape and inform government discussions on this vital issue, and so we hope as many of you as possible will join us for this event.
