As the Designated Person you need to be confident to deal with potential safeguarding incidences as they arise. The training is a requirement of the Early Years Foundation Stage and Working Together to Safeguard Children (2018) and should be updated every two years. The course content covers the required knowledge and skills and acts as a refresher for those currently undertaking the role.

Aimed at those with the designated role this interactive virtual classroom will enable you to:

  • To explain the role of the Designated Person and their responsibilities

  • To explore how beliefs and values regarding child abuse and neglect can influence practice

  • To describe the key legislation and guidance that underpins safeguarding

  • To identify categories of abuse, contextual abuse and the factors that make children more vulnerable to abuse and neglect

  • To consider barriers to disclosure

  • To enable appropriate response to safeguarding/child protection concerns, or allegations against staff/volunteers

  • To explain what happens following a referral

  • To explore the principles of recording and sharing information, including consent and confidentiality

Suitable for: Managers & Senior Educators taking on the role of Designated Person
