Forest School - part one: Why work outside? 
Tuesday 16 April 2024, 6.30pm - 7.30pm

Young children love the opportunity to be outdoors exploring the world around them and learning about all that nature has to offer. This inspirational session led by the Forest School Learning Initiative lays the foundations to outdoor play for young children and to the many benefits for children’s learning and development.  We will analyse why we should take children outside and will draw on research evidence to demonstrate this, building a case to share with colleagues and families.

Forest School - part two: Health and safety management and considerations
Tuesday 14 May 2024, 6.30 pm - 7.30pm

Early educators should offer children the opportunity to experience risk and challenge in their play to develop skills for life and for learning. This interesting and informative session led by the Forest School Learning Initiative will look at how we can empower children to manage risk for themselves, how early educators can carry our risk assessments and what to include and how to communicate health and safety issues effectively to families.

Forest School - part three: Ideas for working in any outdoor space
Wednesday 22 May 2024, 6.30pm - 7.30pm

Access to the outdoors is a fundamental part of early years provision and the quality of the space rather than the size is key to success. This thought-provoking session led by the Forest School Learning Initiative will consider how outdoor spaces should be well designed and organised to draw on their full learning potential for young children. Reinvigorate your outdoor space with fresh perspective and new ideas from this inspiring and engaging session.
