Alliance Virtual Classroom
Safeguarding - designated person 19 May 2022, 9:00AM - 5:00PM 2 sessions

This workshop covers the required knowledge and skills of a safeguarding designated person, and acts as a refresher for those currently undertaking the role. The training is a requirement of the Early Years Foundation Stage and Working Together to Safeguard Children (2018) and should be updated every two years.

As the Designated Person you need to be confident to deal with potential safeguarding incidences as they arise. The course content covers the required knowledge and skills and acts as a refresher for those currently undertaking the role.

Suitable for managers and senior educators taking on the role of Designated Person.

This interactive virtual classroom will enable you to:

  • explain the role of the Designated Person and their responsibilities
  • explore how beliefs and values regarding child abuse and neglect can influence practice
  • describe the key legislation and guidance that underpins safeguarding
  • identify categories of abuse, contextual abuse and the factors that make children more vulnerable to abuse and neglect
  • consider barriers to disclosure
  • respond appropriately to safeguarding/child protection concerns, or allegations against staff/volunteers
  • explain what happens following a referral
  • explore the principles of recording and sharing information, including consent and confidentiality

This Virtual Classroom takes place over two 2-hour sessions on: 19 May and 26 May, 6.30pm - 8.30pm.
