The training is a requirement of the Early Years Foundation Stage and Working Together to Safeguard Children (2018) and should be updated every two years. The course content covers the required knowledge and skills and acts as a refresher for those currently undertaking the role.
Aimed at those with the designated role this interactive virtual classroom will enable you to:
To explain the role of the Designated Person and their responsibilities
To explore how beliefs and values regarding child abuse and neglect can influence practice
To describe the key legislation and guidance that underpins safeguarding
To identify categories of abuse, contextual abuse and the factors that make children more vulnerable to abuse and neglect
To consider barriers to disclosure
To enable appropriate response to safeguarding/child protection concerns, or allegations against staff/volunteers
To explain what happens following a referral
To explore the principles of recording and sharing information, including consent and confidentiality
Suitable for: Managers & Senior Educators taking on the role of Designated Person
